Keep unauthorised personnel out of restricted areas with our unmissable restricted area signs
Restricted area signs are a common safety precaution in many workplaces throughout Australia. A security plan for any facility, property or business will secure certain areas and control access to both employees and visitors, reminding them of areas on-site that are off-limits. These signs might be erected for a number of reasons — perhaps there are dangers or hazards beyond a certain point, or there is confidential information that must remain secure.
At Safety Signs Australia, we print and design restricted area signs to suit a wide range of businesses, industries and purposes, ensuring all workers, visitors and pedestrians remain safe and steer clear of restricted areas. Printed in our state-of-the-art workshop in New South Wales’ Hunter Valley, we can guarantee clear, recognisable and durable signage for your workplace, no matter the environment.

Are there any laws related to restricted area signs?
Employers must provide safety signs if there is a significant risk that cannot be avoided or controlled in any other way. There is no need to display safety signs if they don’t help reduce the risk or if the risk isn’t significant.
Restricted area signs are designed to prevent exposure to potential hazards and the breach of confidential information behind closed doors. It is essential to display restricted access signs to keep pedestrians, visitors and unauthorised personnel out of restricted areas of your workplace.

Our sign materials
Our signs are available in four durable materials: Colorbond Steel, hi-impact poly, aluminium and decal. Here’s a guide to our materials and how to choose the right material for your specific workplace:
- Colorbond Steel — Colorbond is a highly efficient material for restricted area signs. Using a Zincalume steel base and a baked-on finish that resists chipping, peeling and cracking in all kinds of weather conditions, Colorbond Steel is ideal for outdoor workplaces and work sites.
- Hi-impact poly — This is a plastic material with a glasslike texture and is often used to manufacture indoor signs. It has excellent impact resistance and moderate stiffness.
- Aluminium — Aluminium is a versatile metal that’s both lightweight and flexible while also being corrosion-resistant and reflective. Aluminium signs are often used in outdoor settings.
- Decal — Vinyl stickers and decals are extremely weather-resistant, especially in conditions with high humidity and moisture. It’s durable, affordable and prints in bright colours, making them unmissable in the workplace. These can be printed as stickers or signs.
For more information and advice about our sign materials, contact us on 1300 220 536 today. Our team would be more than happy to provide recommendations based on your workplace and site conditions.
FAQs about our restricted signs
What does “restricted area” imply?
“Restricted area” implies that access to the site is reserved for specific individuals only e.g. management teams or specialist employees. Restricted area signs are erected to prevent exposure to potential hazards and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive company information and data.
Are restricted area signs required by law?
Yes, if there is a significant risk that cannot be avoided or prevented, then restricted area signs are required. Restricted areas may be established for the enforcement of security measures and the exclusion of unauthorised personnel.
Are your signs certified?
Yes, our signs comply with the Building Code of Australia (BCA) and relevant Australian Standard. Our manufactured safety signs are ideal for large sites and multiple locations where consistency and quality are important.
Where do I need to display restricted area signs?
You should display restricted signs on the door or next to the door leading to a restricted area. This might be a staff room, an office or a hazardous area of your workplace. This is essential for the protection of pedestrians, visitors, unauthorised personnel and your confidential information.
What sign material should I choose?
It depends on your workplace. For example, if you work in the Great Outdoors, you might want to opt for Colorbond Steel or aluminium as these materials are non-corrosive and can withstand the elements. If you work indoors, we would recommend hi-impact poly or decal signs, as these signs are impact-resistant but not necessarily made for outdoor environments.
How do I customise my signs?
If you need a custom design, all you need to do is get in touch with our team and tell us about your requirements, how many signs you need and what material you prefer. We will also ask you to send through some reference images. From here, we will print your signs in our state-of-the-art workshop and add a protective laminate film to ensure the longevity of your signs.
How long will it take for my signs to arrive?
If you place your order today, you can expect your signs to arrive within five to seven days. We print and laminate our signs as soon as we receive your order.
