The leading supplier of industrial safety signs in Australia offering high impact materials & competitive prices
There are countless risks and dangers involved in industrial work. Wires can be tripped on, hazardous chemicals can be spilled, heavy machinery can cause accidents and quite often, workers complete tasks at heights — risky work in itself.
In order to combat this, the Australian Standard AS 1319:1994 was introduced to help minimise risks and injuries in the workplace. Under this standard, you will find specific requirements for the design and use of safety signs in the occupational environment, regulating and controlling safety-related tasks, warning of hazards and providing emergency information in the workplace.
There are six kinds of safety signs covered by AS 1319:
Danger Signs: used to warn people about particular hazards and hazardous conditions (colours: white, black and red)
Warning Signs should be used to warn people about non-life-threatening conditions. These can also be used to warn people about life-threatening hazards (colours: black and yellow)
Emergency Information Signs should be used to indicate the location of or directions to emergency related facilities like exits and safety equipment (colours: green and white)
Fire Safety Signs should be used to advise the location of fire alarms and fire fighting equipment (colours: red and white)
Mandatory Signs should be used to provide instructions and often involve the word “MUST” e.g. “Safety goggles must be worn in this area” (colours: blue and white)
Prohibition Signs should be used to warn people about areas they are not permitted to enter, or actions they cannot do in the said area (colours: black, white and red, normally with a red annulus and slash symbol).
Under these six umbrellas are a wide range of other signs, designs and warnings that are required to keep team members safe on-site. At Safety Signs Australia, we design and manufacture a large range of industrial safety signs to make your work site safer and more efficient, minimising the risk of injuries.
